The purpose of the Human Resources and Payroll Assistant is to provide a variety of human resources and payroll processing support activities for the Sauk County Healthcare Center.
- Essential Duties
Compile and review employee wage, benefit, and withholding tax information for proper authorization and accuracy.
Verify payroll time entered by departments, balance payroll deductions, and update employee payroll information. Completion of the payroll based journal submissions to Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services.
Orient new personnel to the organization and explain benefits enrollment, personnel policies, procedures, payroll procedures, as established in operational policies and procedures.
Prepare information and notify employees regarding health and life insurance coverage and flexible spending options and collect employees' elections for coverage type and forward to accounting (payroll).
Maintain employee personnel files, applicant I-9, Equal Opportunity and Affirmative Action information.
Assist in entering compensation and personal data for new hires, classification changes, probationary and annual increases, employee benefit and payroll changes, and new employee information to computer data base.
Assists Human Resources Specialist with coordination of recruitment activities.
Compile information and prepare insurance accounts reports and information for budgeting and auditors.
Assist with processing Family Medical Leave Act (FMLA) and other related leaves of absence compliance and process documentation on initial claims and releases.
Advise and enroll employees for benefits related options and form completion.
Assist employees with completion of workers compensation documentation and claims.
Prepare various payroll and other related reporting.
- Additional Tasks
Update and keep track of Health Care Reform tracker for facility.
Assist department heads, employees and supervisors with interpretation of resolutions, ordinances and other policy documentation.
Release employee information on appropriate request.
May assist in the preparation of a variety of documents including county board resolutions, letters, memos, reports.
And other duties as assigned.
- Minimum Training and Education
Required: Associates degree in Human Resources, Business or anotherrelated field
3-5 years of related work experience
Preferred: Payroll experience in a healthcare setting
Any combination of education and experience that provides equivalent knowledge, skills and abilities may be considered.
