Description

The purpose of the Program Assistant- Child Support is to assist the Child Support Paraprofessionals with establishing paternity and child support orders, initiating new actions, and enforcing existing orders.

Essential Duties

Initiate new paternity cases by sending applications for Service, Paternity Interview forms, and medical release forms to custodial parents.

Initiate new establishment cases by creating files, sending and reviewing applications, sending financial disclosures, and gathering demographic information on all parties.

Review referrals and/or worklists in KIDS to determine if new files are needed or if a case already exists and then initiate new cases, act on work list items, and create new case files.

Process and mail wage assignments, amended wage assignments, suspensions, and termination notices to employers.

Locate individuals using computer accessed platforms.

Schedule appointments for Paraprofessionals and Administrator.

Work SACWIS and CARES interfaces.

Obtain service of process.

Generate a variety of legal documents.

Additional Tasks

Enter demographic and employment data to KIDS.

Contact employers to verify non-payment issues and health insurance availability.

Supply work search forms and monitor seek work orders.

Access Bureau of Vital Records Birth Query screens.

Contact Social Security Administration for Social Security Numbers.

Request birth expenses from medical providers or from the state.

Perform routine Paraprofessional tasks in his/her absence.

And other duties as assigned.

Minimum Training and Education

Required: High school diploma or equivalent
2 year of administrative or office experience

Preferred: Experience in a child support setting

Any combination of education and experience that provides equivalent knowledge, skills and abilities may be considered.
