The purpose of the Data Systems Paraprofessional is to maintain the electronic health record for Sauk County Department of Human Services. This involves maintaining system users and security, developing forms for data collection and reports for data output, working with management to prioritize system needs and providing ongoing training and support for the SCDHS electronic health record.
- Essential Duties
Design and analyze system applications, electronic integration with other state and county systems and reports for internal and external financial and client related information.
Research, analyze, recommend and implement current and future EHR applications, with the assistance of the County Management Information Department, assuring system integration with State, Federal and County Information Systems.
Responsible for introductory, advanced and ongoing training on the EHR application, including training super users, clinicians, business and administrative staff and contracted providers adapting the training to the diverse learning styles of all.
Export data to other software programs, enabling data to be manipulated by sorting and formatting information for analyzes tracking and reporting purposes.
Attend the County wide Privacy and Security meetings, establishing consistent guidelines to handle Privacy and Security Incidents, and Breach of Unsecured PHI (Protective Health Information) notifications.
Maintain staff security level clearance in the electronic health record to assure client and staff confidentiality.
Design, create, implement, modify, analyze and maintain modeled forms, widgets and reports using application specific building tools, report writing software and SQL language to assist in collecting data and measuring outcomes of grants, service programs, budgets, audits and surveys.
Assure information integrity by monitoring production and quality assurance indicators.
Develop and maintain a standard format for documentation concerning the EHR.
- Additional Tasks
Coordinate Business and Administrative Services Data meeting to review current projects, discuss issues around the electronic record system, review upcoming implementations and strategize future projects.
Manage system upgrade processes including, but not limited to installing and testing patches, document/policy writing, reading and interpreting release notes, complete setup changes, educate users of upgrade changes/fixes/enhancements;
Provide help desk technical support to end-users with hardware, software and connectivity questions. Log and evaluate all help desk tickets and issues. Schedule help desk staff.
Build strong relationships with staff. Day to day communication and support to all users including system outages, interruptions and small functionality changes that arise.
Attend EHR trainings, user group meetings and annual conferences as able and approved by management.

- Minimum Training and Education
Required:Associate's degree in Health Information Technology, Information Technology, or another related field
5 years of Information Systems experience
Preferred: Bachelor's degree in Health Information Technology, Information Technology, or another related field
Computer programming experience
Experience in government and human service organizations
Any combination of education and experience that provides equivalent knowledge, skills and abilities may be considered.
