Sand Ridge Secure Treatment Center opened in 2001 and houses Wisconsin's Sexually Violent Persons Program. The goal of the center is treating and teaching patients with a history of sexual aggression toward the goal of providing a safe return to the community.
Work hours are 2:00 p.m. to 10:30 p.m., on a rotating schedule working every other weekend and holidays.
This position is responsible for the coordination of the overall operations of the pharmacy. Duties include , but are not limited to: Liaison with the pharmaceutical supplier(s) for the facility, maintaining medical and drug supplies, preparation and distribution of medications, charting medications, and maintenance of patient medical records.
Due to the nature of these positions, all applicants will be required to allow the DHS to conduct a background check to determine whether the circumstances of any convictions may be related to the job being filled.
All appointees will be required to receive a TB test, which will be administered by SRSTC or medical personnel approved by the facility prior to their start date.
This position has physical requirements which may include but are not limited to pushing heavy carts (push weight approx. 5-25 lbs.); standing for long periods of time; bending, lifting up to 40lbs, stooping, and turning during filling of patient medication orders; and walking to deliver medications at least 3 times per day. Applicants may be required to pass a physical evaluation to assess these requirements.
Minimally qualified candidates will have:
- Experience or training as a Pharmacy Technician in a hospital, long term care facility, school or retail setting (i.e., preparing and administering medications, etc.)
- Experience establishing and maintaining effective working relationships
- Excellent communication skills
In addition, well qualified candidates will have:
- Current Pharmacy Technician Certification
- Experience or training utilizing pharmacy software and/or prescription systems
- Experience working as apart of an multidisciplinary team
- Experience working in a secure setting (i.e., correctional institution, hospital, treatment facility, etc.)
- Ability to work independently, organizing tasks and setting priorities using effective time management skills
