COUNTY BOARD SUPERVISOR FOR DISTRICT 9
Chippewa County is now accepting applications from individuals who desire to serve as a County Board Supervisor for District 9 which consists of the Town of Hallie, Town of Lafayette except Sections 21, 28 and 33 of T28N, R7W, and except an area laying north and west of 40th Ave., from the Town of Sigel line and running north on County Hwy K to the Canadian National Railroad then west to 190th St., then north to 70th Ave., then west to 185th St., then north to 75th Ave., then west to 180th St., then north to end of road, and except an area lying north of County Hwy J, west of County Hwy X and J intersection.
The term of this vacancy will run through April 2020.
The County Board meets monthly and is comprised of fifteen elected supervisors representing each of the districts in the County. The general powers of the County Board are provided under Wis. Stats.59.51 and are exercised through the resolutions and ordinances it adopts. The Board acts similarly to the state legislature in that it is a policy-making body of the County government. It establishes County ordinances, levies taxes, passes laws concerning law enforcement and appropriates money for services. County Board Supervisors are expected to attend all meetings of the County Board and committees, boards and commissions they are appointed to.
