City of Onalaska is accepting applications for a part-time Planning Technician position working 20-23 hours per week. This position is responsible for the enforcement of municipal ordinances pertaining to nuisance and property maintenance; assists with the enforcement of municipal ordinances pertaining to zoning and development; inspects/follows up with the fat, oil, and grease disposal program, and inspects/follow-ups for soil erosion violations. This position conducts inspections, data collection, recordkeeping, field work, and serves as a liaison between the public and City regarding ordinance and/or code violations.
Qualifications: Associates degree in geography, natural resources, forestry, planning, construction management or related field; or equivalent combination of education and experience; one (1) to three (3) years of experience in a municipal environment, natural resources, planning, engineering or an equivalent combination of education and/or similar experience is required; valid driver’s license with good driving record; must obtain Wisconsin Erosion Control certification within six (6) months of hire. Experience with Microsoft Office products and other related computer and web-based programs.
