The Construction Inspector's main areas of responsibility include the following: Assuring building code compliance by determining and conducting code required inspections based on approved construction documents; Completing quality and specified inspections and related documentation; Coordinating with contractors, UNL service units, and AHJs. The construction inspector works with the project managers, UNL department representatives, code officials, and contractors in order to provide inspection services, alerts to potential issues, coordinates services, and facilitates effective lines of communication within a project team. ICC Commercial Building Inspector certification and completion of OSHA's 30-hour training for construction-site safety is required either upon hire or within the first twelve (12) months of employment.
