This position will support certain program activities of the Department of Environmental Health and Safety related to waste management, radiation protection, and laboratory safety. Waste management functions include evaluation, classification, receipt, inspection, and preparation of wastes for off-site transport, and audits at campus points of generation. Radiation protection functions include radioactive material receipt and check-in, instrument calibrations, sealed source inventories and leak tests, audits, and contamination surveys. Laboratory safety functions include evaluation of chemical hazards and safety/compliance audits. Position will maintain associated records and database information for all program areas. Under the direction of other EHS staff, assist with spill response clean-up. Criminal history background check, pre-placement physical, and driving record review will be conducted.
