The Bloomington and Normal Water Reclamation District seeks applications for a wastewater treatment plant operator. The position will be required to complete process control sampling and testing, operation of stationary and mobile equipment, as well as regular monitoring and control processes using SCADA systems. Work involves responsibility for the technical aspects of plant operations in addition to compliance with state and federal regulations. Work is performed under the direction of the Chief Operator.
To be considered for this position, applicants must have a high school diploma, a valid driver's license, the ability to acquire the State of Illinois Environmental Protection Agency Operator Class 4 Certification within one year, and the ability to lift 100 lbs and occasionally carry 60 lbs. A commercial driver's license (CDL) is not required but is a plus.
The successful candidate must be available to respond to emergency situations when necessary, will be required to work outdoors, occasionally in adverse weather conditions, calibrate and maintain a variety process monitoring instruments, collect process samples, perform minor maintenance, demonstrate effective written and verbal skills, and maintain a clean and orderly work area.
