Distinguishing Features of Work:
Employees are expected to be able to work a 40-hour work week with minimum interruption through all types of weather. Hours are 6:30am – 2:30pm (Park Maintenance). Must be available to work some weekends and holidays. Employment is possible March through November.
Examples of Work Performed:
Assists with maintaining Ironwood Golf Course, park grounds and other Town properties that include athletic fields, walking trails, playgrounds and tennis courts.
Assists with daily trash removal, picnic shelter and golf/park cleaning and restroom custodial duties.
Assists with various landscape maintenance activities such as planting flowers, perennials and shrubs, weeding and watering landscape beds and applying hardwood mulch.
Assists with mowing activities on the Golf Course, in parks, along roadways and at other municipal properties, utilizing riding mowers, walk-behind mowers, power blowers, string trimmers and other landscape maintenance equipment.
Assists with general golf course, park and building maintenance activities such as painting, carpentry, masonry and irrigation repairs.
Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
Must have good common sense and be able to understand and follow instructions and specifications.
Must be responsible and dependable; reporting to work at the required time and maintaining a positive attendance record.
Must be able to work outside for extended periods of time and in all kinds of weather, performing tasks that require physical strength and endurance.
Must possess and maintain a valid Illinois driver’s license.
Desirable Experience and Training:
Previous experience in golf course maintenance, park maintenance or landscaping activities are preferred but not required. Preferred age 16 years and older.
