Wastewater Treatment Plant Mechanic The Bloomington and Normal Water Reclamation District seeks applications for a wastewater treatment plant mechanic. This position assists with the routine and skilled maintenance and repair of multiple Water & Wastewater Treatment Plants and related facilities and equipment. A qualified candidate must be able to perform complex to very simple maintenance and electrical repair work on plant facilities, pumps, blowers, motors, chemical feeders, filters, bar screens, valves, pipes, air compressors, heatingooling equipment, aeration equipment and other major mechanical and hydraulic equipment found in water or wastewater treatment facilities. Must be able to fabricate and machine simple repair parts for equipment; use welders, compressors and other power tools as well as hand tools. Be able to read and understand equipment diagrams and cut sheets. Ability to read and interpret blueprints, etc. Monitors facilities and equipment to identify and repair leaks or other malfunctions. Experience with SCADA systems is not required, but is a plus. Work is performed under the direction of the maintenance foreman and Director of Maintenance. High School graduate or GED. Three years experience in process equipment installation, maintenance and repair. Requires a valid Motor Vehicle Operators License issued by the State of Illinois. A commercial driver's license (CDL) is not required, but is a plus. The successful candidate must possess the ability to lift 100 lbs and occasionally carry 60 lbs and be able to pass a work related physical exam. The successful candidate must be available to respond to evening and weekend "call ins" when necessary, will be required to work outdoors, occasionally in adverse weather conditions, complete assigned maintenance tasks, demonstrate effective written and verbal skills, and maintain a clean and orderly work area. Regular work schedule includes weekday hours in addition to standby shifts. Wages based upon skills, education, abilities and experience. The District offers a full benefits package.
