POSITION ANNOUNCEMENT

Instructor (Full Time, 12 month)

Position: Instructor of Anatomy. The position includes a 100 percent time, 12-month, state-funded salary.

Qualifications: Qualified candidates must hold at minimum, a Master’s Degree or equivalent (e.g., physical therapy, physician assistant) with training in human anatomy, physiology, biological sciences, kinesiology or related fields with preference for teaching experience in the human anatomies (gross anatomy, embryology, neuroscience). Applicants in final stages of Master’s thesis work and who expect to complete their degree prior to appointment will be considered.

Description of Duties:

Teaching – Appointees will provide lectures in anatomy and embryology, teach in all cadaveric laboratory sessions, provide additional teaching to students in need, serve as tutor/facilitators in small group sessions and perform other duties as assigned. The position is a 100% time, 12-month, term position, commencing as early as July 1, 2018. Reappointment will occur contingent upon performance and the availability of funds.

Service – Individual may participate in Departmental, School of Medicine, and University committee service as assigned and is encouraged to participate in external professional activities (i.e., Societies, Associations, etc.) and community service as a representative of the School of Medicine.

General Information: Southern Illinois University School of Medicine is accredited by the Liaison Committee on Medical Education (LCME) and offers undergraduate and graduate medical training required to be a physician. The School also offers graduate programs leading to Masters or Doctoral degrees. Southern Illinois University Carbondale has approximately 14,000 students and Carbondale is part of a vibrant community. The region enjoys a variety of organized programs and cultural opportunity for children and adults, numerous lakes, hiking trails, the Shawnee National Forest, an exquisite ‘wine trail’ and is one of the most picturesque areas of the country.
