Assistant Athletic Director (Development)
Position Summary: SIU Carbondale is a member of the Missouri Valley conference, the Men's Swimming Team is a member of the Mid-American Conference, while all other sports are members of the Missouri Valley Conference. SIU Carbondale is committed to the academic success of its student-athletes.
Duties and Responsibilities: The Assistant Athletic Director (Development) will oversee the annual private giving to restricted funds in Intercollegiate Athletics and the annual campaign to support athletic scholarships. This will include, but not be limited to; conceive, development and manage all aspects of the Annual Fund programs including direct mailings, telemarketing campaigns and in-person solicitations, work with Departmental and SIU Foundation to identify, cultivate and solicit donor prospects, conceive and develop and implement fund raising campaigns. This position will also assist in the identification and cultivation of potential gift prospects and speaking engagements throughout the region and serve as a resource while working with and through the Associate Director for Development. This position does require attendance at outdoor sporting events (at times in inclement weather) and will require significant public speaking, customer service, leadership training, issue resolution and fund raising. Many events will take place outside of normal office hours, and include weekends and evenings as well as overnight travel.
Minimum Qualifications: Bachelor's Degree and 3 years of experience required in the athletic development, athletic administration or closely related field. Master's Degree may be substituted for 2 years of required experience.

Preferred Qualifications: Experience with annual fund, including direct mail, telemarketing campaigns and working with volunteer groups.
