Full-Time; Non-Teaching Professional; Grade 6

Supervise day to day activities of the Preschool; develop schedules for Early Childhood Education (ECE) students enrolled in ECE 267 & 268; approve lesson plans of ECE students and teaching staff; supervise and assist the college students in gaining teaching competence and managing preschool children; order supplies as needed for the preschool; approve food program menus and assure all state requirements are met; communicate with state personnel as needed; maintain proper documentation and provide necessary information for federal audit of the food program; hire student workers and evaluate as required; maintain all equipment in efficient working order; maintain proper amount of equipment and inventory as directed by governing organizations; maintain Illinois Department of Children & Family Services licensure; comply and maintain necessary requirements of ExceleRate Gold; comply and maintain all requirements of preschool accreditation; supervise and evaluate all preschool professional and operational staff; supervise and approve intern student requests from all other programs on campus; participate in professional development activities as required by all governing entities of the preschool; seek grant funding and write/manage grants for the JALC Preschool; evening and weekend hours, as well as travel, may be required to promote and maintain the quality of the preschool; serve on committees; and other duties as assigned.


Requires a Bachelor’s degree in early childhood education or related field; three years of early childhood experience; two years’ directing early childhood center or program.  Master’s degree in early childhood education or related field; certification/director’s credential; five years’ early childhood experience with post-secondary experience is preferred.


$46,653 - $58,316 (salary commensurate with education and experience per salary schedule)
