POSITION ANNOUNCEMENT

Assistant Professor of Practice
Department of Workforce Education and Development
Southern Illinois University Carbondale

Position: This is a full-time, 9-month, non-tenure track faculty position in the Department of Workforce Education and Development (WED). WED has delivered an on-campus Baccalaureate Degree Program with a major in Workforce Education and Development since 1973. The department offers the Bachelor of Science in Education and the Master of Science in Education degrees on the Carbondale, Illinois campus and online. This position will be responsible for teaching 3 courses in the Bachelor's and Master's programs and serving as the Master of Science Pre-admission Coordinator each semester. Courses to be taught include, but are not limited to, WED 460, 461, 462, 463, 466, 486, 560, 561, 566, 586, and 593. Qualifications:

  1. Doctorate from a regionally accredited institution, in one of the following areas: workforce education, training and development, adult education, human resources, or a related field. The rank of Assistant Professor of Practice requires a doctorate degree.
  2. A minimum of four years of documented experience teaching at the postsecondary level, such as a 2-year and 4-year college, the military, or in business and industry.
  3. Experience in applying workforce education, adult learning and human resource development principles in business and industry.
  4. Preference will be given to applicants who have experience advising college students and completing administrative duties for university programs.
