Position Title: Advisor/Counselor

Starting Salary: $33,582 - $41,978 (salary commensurate with education and experience per salary schedule)

Hours: 8:00 am – 4:30 pm; Monday – Friday
Duties and Responsibilities:
Provide limited counseling services to students; provide academic advisement services to assigned students; monitor academic progress of assigned advisees and provide assistance when needed; maintain program guides and provide these to each advisee; evaluate and understand pertinent high school and/or college transcripts; ability to articulate and understand various academic majors at the College; assume additional responsibilities in such student service areas as the Assessment program, scholarship and loan programs, high school visitations, and student recruitment activities; provide students with information about transfer services and John A. Logan College services and programs; complete tentative and final graduation evaluations for students; perform other duties as assigned.
Required Minimum Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in education, psychology, business, communication, or related field; academic assessment experience; knowledge of student college issues.
Preferred Qualifications:Master’s degree in education; work experience in student personnel at a community college.
