Description of Position: Rehabilitation Counselor in the Evaluation and Developmental Center's residential Living Center Program. The primary function of the position is to plan, coordinate and implement a residential rehabilitation center program that provides independent living, recreational and work skill training to individuals with disabilities ages 16 to 24. The position is responsible for caseload management and supervision of student workers for 16 vocational rehabilitation individuals participating in the program. This is a term, administrative/professional appointment.

Minimum Qualifications: Master's Degree in Rehabilitation or Behavior Therapy and a valid driver's license. Ability to be on call and work evenings/weekends required. A Certified Rehabilitation Counselor (CRC) or BCBA is required.

This is a security-sensitive position. Before any offer of employment is made, the University will conduct a pre-employment background investigation, which includes a criminal background check.

Preferred Qualifications: Experience with behavioral management, group dynamics, socialization and recreational planning; supervisory experience; experience in residential programming with individuals with disabilities.

Responsibilities of the position include, but are not limited to:

  1. Ensure the safety of individuals with disabilities who are residents of the center. Monitor the behaviors and interactions of residents and intervene as necessary to promote behaviors compatible with employment, social, and community settings.
  2. Ensure that the goals of the program are met. Ensure successful operation for all aspects of residential center including staffing and program supplies.
  3. Coordinate each resident's admission, transition, and termination from residential services. Provide intake tours for prospective residents.
  4. Recruit, interview, train, schedule and supervise graduate assistants, interns, field work students and practica students for implementing overall program goals and objectives and individual program planning.
  5. Perform case management duties for residents and subsequent reports as needed to meet programming needs and objectives. Schedule and participate in client staffings.
  6. Work cooperatively with external sources such as parents, other service providers and referral personnel.
  7. Develop and evaluate residential program goals and objectives on an annual basis through performance improvement meetings and subsequent revision of program manuals and materials.
  8. Complete and maintain daily, weekly, and monthly data collection and review quarterly reports for accuracy.
  9. Supervise Graduate Assistants and student workers to ensure they meet program and educational objectives.
  10. Adhere to funder requirements and the Commission on Accreditation for Rehabilitation Facilities accreditation standards. Maintain relevant documentation and case records.
  11. Complete other duties as assigned.
